2012 Calendar Empty 2012 Calendar

Post  Pauly 15/11/2011, 2:58 am

Any ideas on next years calendar? I presume it will be similar to this year.
3x Sandowns
2x Phillip Islands
1x Winton
Will the additional round be another Winton, will we retry Wakefield or neither and just have 6 rounds?

What would peoples preferences be?

Personally I'd like to try Mallala or venture down to Tassie for Symmons Plains or Baskerville.

For some reason Wakefield has never interested me but I would be up for Eastern Creek!

Wakefield is a bit like Mallala and Winton....good for 4 cylinder cars!

I wouldn't mind trying Wakefield, it looks like it has some good challenging corners and the up hill bit looks like fun. Baskerville looks great on in car camera's which can only mean it would be good in real life, having to pay for the spirit of tassie probably puts that one to rest.

Winton short track???

That front straight...Sandown feels long enough. Turn one looks incredibly quick though.

Eastern Creek is a ball of fun. I'd love to encourage a round up here (though after I get my engine fixed please).

Even though the straight is veeeery long, you come on to it in 2nd or 3rd so it isn't as bad as PI (where I come on to the straight at 6000 in 4th). My suggestion is that if you are considering it, make sure it is the old 'long' track. They have just revised it to have a short circuit as well and that is only good for big HP cars. It's straight, followed by another straight, followed by... have a guess.

The old long circuit has something for everyone and certainly evens the feild a bit. For a peek in a 4 cyl Midget https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ncv8sEO42g or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6toYEnkyHc

Either way I can't wait for the dates to be published

Pity Eastern Creek will be forever changed to a power circuit from now on. Lunacy!

It depends on whether they run the new full circuit or break it in to 2 sepertate small circuits. To take the 2nd as a permanent option would be down right stupid, so one would hope there will be long track options. If they run them I'll be in line to run. Short track you can count me out.

I see the production car 8 hour race will be on the short track...wonder what effect that may have on the cars that enter, given 50% of the grid are hot hatches/Under 2 litre

Well the State calender's basically finalised, but a VMRC round or two (or possibly interstate) just needs to be decided upon.

As per trents post there will probably be additional rounds to add but...

*February - Mallala Motorsport Park - South Australia
VSCRC April 21-22 - Phillip Island G.P Circuit
VSCRC June 15-16 - Sandown Raceway
VSCRC July 20-21 - Sandown Raceway
VSCRC October 13-14 - Phillip Island G.P Circuit

You can probably safely include Sandown Historic in November as well...

*Mallala has been proposed but is not final yet

Club competition calender (on the website) is still incorporating the original proposed calender (including Feb at Mallala). Someone better speak to Nathan Medhurst about changing it.
