A grid of 25 with some new faces and some drivers having their first run for the year. Hoping for another good weekend of racing. I'm just about ready to go how about everyone else?

Another good weekend of racing. We will be back in Vic state racer this round I have been told. Only a couple of weeks to go till Winton does anyone know if Louise's car is okay after he hit with the wall on Sunday arvo.

Yeah Chris, it was a good one.
You went really well... Rod Barret too.
Richard Vollebregt is getting quicker, I think he got into the 1.33's. 2nd in class in race 3 & 2nd in class over the w/end on the points.
I wondered what happened to Louise. Hope her car's ok and she gets to Winton.
I lost my fan belt and cooked my engine, with the temp guage off the scale for two laps before I noticed.
Dave Anderson told me that his DNF in race three was caused by engine bearing failure (2nd time) and broken synco's.
Winton should be good... but should be 4 races or 50% bonus, like Wakfield.
How are the numbers looking?
What happened to our report in Vic Stae Racer anyway?
Rich.

Re: Round 4 Sandown
Anderson's engine must've been on the way out in race 2 then given the speed difference

I don't think those "historic" superchargers couldn't cope on the weekend Trent.

Yeah... I warned David not too run too much boost !
No seriously, I was surprised to find out that he had rev limited his engine to 6,500rpm, where, as you know, I run mine flat out all the time at 8,000rpm.
I guess he was worried about reliability at Sandown, seeing he had already run his bearings in race three at Phillip Island in April.
We knew that he had problems with his driveline on the Dummy Grid before race three on the w/end.
I noticed that his brakes were'nt working as well as they had been in the first three rounds either!
It's a pitty I had that DNF in race one, as I could have evened the score with David in the Historic class.
I guess we shall see how things pan-out over the season. The car is running really well.
I wish I'd had that expensive cylinder head last year!
.... and I finally got a proper racing seat! ... that made a big difference too.
Another great video on Youtube Chris!
I hope you'r all watching F1 tonight.... Webber is runnig 7th at the moment.
Rich.

Re: Round 4 Sandown
If any Midget drivers (gee it's hard to be politically correst at times) out there can give me an idea of which diff ratio would be best for Sanmdown, a 4.2 or 3.7.
I'll have the 3.7 in for PI and was wondering whether I'd need to bring the 4.2 with me as well to change over.

Jonesy, what's the radius of your tyres? I run 20" diameter slicks with a 3.7 which works ok at Sandown. If you are running larger diameter radials they will affect your overall ratio and engine RPM at any given speed. I reckon the 4.2 may be a bit short, but it depends on how many revs you want to pull as determined by the overall ratio.
Cheers, Greg

Re: Round 4 Sandown
Hey Greg,
I'm running 205/60/13 Toyo R888's. Their rolling diameter is 181cm.
As the moment she's sitting in the Dyno waiting for the man to get back from a work trip to the UK. It will be a little while before I do any power runs to see how the new motor compares. I'm hoping she'll still pull 8000 but the more it sits up there the quicker it wears out (and I've blown my major maintenance budget for the next few years).
Unfortunately my choice is either 3.7 or 4.2. I think theres a fair gap.

Re: Round 4 Sandown
Steve,
With a 3.7 with your tyre combo you would be pulling 116 mph at 8,000 rpm in 3rd and 127 mph at 7,000 rpm in top. Same revs with a 4.2 you would be looking at 102 and 112 mph respectively. I guess the question for you is, have you the grunt to pull the taller diff bearing in mind there are a couple of slowish corners to accelerate out of at Sandown? We also haven't taken into account drag and wind resistance! I'd be inclined to try the 3.7, but bring the 4.2 along as a back up plan just in case. I think a 3.9 would probably be about right, somewhere in the middle! Hope this helps, Cheers Greg.

Re: Round 4 Sandown
Greg,
I thought the 3.9 would be ideal... unfortunately, as usual, that's not a choice. The dyno results will tell me how much grunt the wee beasty has.
At the moment Ill be happy just to be there in one piece. I'll have all the bits to do a quick diff change if needed.
Thanks for your help. it is greatly appreciated.
