MGB Roadster, Group Sb Historic Logbook
This well-known car was purpose-built in 2007 by Bob Rowntree from a bare shell with new floors and careful attention to detail. Early production Australian-bodied 1963 pull door-handled model were the lightest MGB shells. Features include: alloy bonnet, roll-bar with side intrusion bars, alloy fuel tank with windage tray and Earls’ filler cap, Koni rear shocks, Brembo front rotors, straight-cut close ratio overdrive gearbox with an English competition-spec overdrive. Engine: 18V block with ARP studs, JE forged pistons, Argo rods, roller rockers, special crank, baffled sump, extensively modified 18 ‘O’ head with flow-bench figures, recently fitted new bearings and brass oil pump drive gears, Vernier adjustable timing gears, a new old-stock Weber DCOE 13 carb, HP extractors, Auto-meter tacho and rev limiter, Bosch race distributor, 2 sets of Superlite wheels/tyres, factory Sebring headlight covers, Sparco seat, six-point harness, light-weight custom-made full tonneau cover. Comes with two diffs - 3.9 and 4.3 Quaife LSD. Car is painted black with a red stripe. Corner weights and sheets for both engine and chassis dyno figures. Winner of the Group Sb 25-lap HSRCA enduro race at Eastern Creek in 2009 posting a 1:51.9 and is competitive in its class. Engine refreshed in Oct 2011 by Bob Rowntree and has since had 7 hours engine time. Car available with or without fully enclosed trailer. $25,000 for car. Richard – 0422 019933 (Sydney).
