I hope so, I'd love to have another go at Winton.

I assume since there has been no mention of it, a trip north of the border (Wakie Park) is out?

As per the last minutes, after last year when Ian Ross went back on his word we are trying to get a firm commitment to give us fair racing laps (considering we were one of the largest categories there).  He has recently been in America on business and they haven't started organising the event yet. So currently it's probably a 90% yes but we are not going to go to do 10 min qualifying and a hand full of racing laps while there are classes of 5 cars running around. So far he has indicated he is happy to give us more time within reason, so we are trying to get a commitment to an increase of 5 more racing laps for the weekend to make it a bit more worthwhile. Especially considering we have supported them for a few years now. I personally think it's a great event to be a part of.

In fairness to the organisers at Winton and our committee I would have liked to see us do this event instead like we used to ( http://www.wintonraceway.com.au/event-details?event=558 ). We would get more races and laps due to less categories and demo laps etc. Yes the historics is good to be apart of but we need to look past that and go for value for money.

I think we used to get, 1 practice, Quali and 4 races !

Did that used to be our first round.

Yeah it was for a couple of years and we also used to have it as a mid season event too.

Not sure how it's fair to the organisers at Winton? But it was looked at, unfortunately they were "full" for that particular event with categories. They had also advised us they are cutting one VMRC this year so there will only be three rounds which makes it hard to fit in.

There are positives and negatives to both.
The VMRC events give more track time usually (+), but there is no crowd and the track can sometimes be dumped with fluids etc. from some of the cars that dont compete much that run there (-).
The FOS event is less track time (-) but more spectators, better atmosphere and better 'status' of event. It allows those with historic vehicles to cross enter as well (+).

So does everyone want purely laps on track?

That's the reason the Historic's isn't booked in yet, so yes.

Is this Paul Vernall writing these replies or a robot ?

 Neutral

No my question is do people want to do any event as long as its the most laps available or do people like going to events with some audience/atmosphere etc.? I personally like having an atmosphere at events. But I am always in a minority hence asking.

You can lock Festival of Speed in, we are committed to it now and have a verbal agreement for a solid increase in laps.  There won't be a second Winton this year, only 6 rounds and no drop your worst round.
There were only two other VMRC events this year, one is the same weekend as Sandown Historic and the other two weeks before Sandown in July.
